What is an "ear cuff"? What exactly is an "ear cuff"!?
There was a time when I thought the same.
Lately, ear-cuff style wireless earbuds have become more common.
Honestly, I'm not very familiar with the word "ear cuff."
I think women are probably familiar with the term, but for men, it might be quite unfamiliar.
I guess I’ve been busy lately and I’m just tired.
What do you usually do when you’re tired?
Do you take a break? Or do something fun?
I listen to my favorite music.
Oh right, I think some new earbuds just arrived.

the ear-cuff-style earbuds just arrived!
Sorry for dragging you into that little skit.
This time,
I received the “TALIX Ultra Open Earbuds X6” (Talix Ultra Open Earbuds X6),
kindly provided by the brand, so allow me to introduce them to you!
Oh, and about "ear cuffs", you see—
It refers to an accessory you clip onto your ear.
Earrings go on the earlobe, while ear cuffs are typically worn on the cartilage or outer rim of the ear.
And by the way, one more thing—
You often hear this with recent wireless earbuds, too:
Don’t you hear the “something-Buds” name all the time?
I hear it a lot, but I guess it's just the trendy naming convention for earbuds… not that I really know.
That’s probably what you thought too, right?
I see right through you.
"Buds" means "tsubomi" (flower buds) in Japanese.
Since you're putting something small like a bud on your ears, that's why it's called “Earbuds.”
It really does feel kind of like a bud!!
If you didn’t know that either, smash that Good button!! (Well, blogs don’t have Good buttons, so head over to X [@sochablo] instead... lol)
Contents, Case, and Main Unit Appearance
Sorry for the long introduction, and thank you for reading this far.
Now, let’s get into the essential product overview.
First, the contents. It’s quite simple.

・Main unit (with case)
・USB Type-A to C charging cable
・User manual
The case material is plastic.
The color is hard to see in the photo but has a pearl-like shimmering effect.

The size of the case is similar to AirPods Pro 2.
The shape is rounded, like an egg.
From the side, you can see it bulges out a bit — like an egg.

The inside color of the case is a pale bluish-purple pastel shade.
The earbuds themselves are white pearl, matching the case.
It’s nice that the color scheme is consistent!
It has the technical conformity mark, so you can use it with confidence.
Product Features and Specifications
Next, here are the product's features and specifications.

The biggest feature of this product is its “lightness.”
The AirPods Pro 2, which I mainly use, weighs 5.4g per earbud.
This one is even lighter.
I also have another open-ear style wireless earbud, the SOUNDPEATS GoFree2 (not an ear-cuff), and that one weighs 9.0g per earbud.
Honestly, even the 9.0g ones don’t feel particularly heavy to me,
but when it comes to earbuds, lighter is always better!!
Wearing Comfort
This is my first time using ear-cuff style earbuds, and the wearing comfort isn’t particularly bad.
That’s how I felt, but I imagine some people might wonder, “Huh? Clipped on the edge of the ear? Doesn’t that feel weird?”
When you actually wear them, maybe because they’re so light, it feels pretty natural—no significant discomfort.
Of course, it’s not like, “What!? No way!? It’s like I’m not wearing anything!!”
They’re definitely on. The ear cuffs are definitely on.
Especially when you shake your head strongly side to side, the parts behind the ear get pinched between your neck and ear, giving a squished feeling—you can definitely tell you’re wearing something.
I think this applies to all ear-cuff style earbuds in general.
I actually tried wearing them for almost a full day, and I didn’t feel any pressure or pain in my ears.
Thanks to the lightness and design, you can wear them for a long time! I think this is the strength of this product.
Listening comfort and sound quality? To sum up: “average” (this is my personal opinion).
Personally, I don’t usually pay much attention to sound quality.
So I compared it to a similar-priced (a bit more expensive) open-ear wireless earbud—the previously mentioned SOUNDPEATS GoFree2
To be honest, I’m an amateur when it comes to sound.
That’s exactly why!!
I believe I can share impressions from the perspective of an ordinary user like you (just a way of putting it).
For most users, details like treble quality, soundstage width, or bass performance don’t really matter.
The only important thing is a simple judgment.
Is it “good” or “not good”?
So, I listened.
I listened to a lot of J-POP.
Then I realized something.
This TALIX Ultra Open Earbuds X6, Compared to another open-ear earbud I tested, it lacks that thumping bass feel.
The sound is very light, and if I had to criticize, it feels lacking in power.
In short, it gave me the impression that it’s not suited for music listening.
On the other hand, if you mainly listen to YouTube variety shows, interviews, or explanatory and educational videos, and don’t need booming bass or impact, then it’s perfectly fine.
Lastly, what I want to say
Oh, I have two additional points.
They are: ① good tap sensitivity, ② doesn’t fall off
Regarding ① good tap sensitivity: you can operate the earbuds by tapping the parts behind your ears, and the tap sensitivity is quite good.
Compared to other open-ear earbuds I tested, which are sensitive about tap location and pressure, this one operates just right without thinking. That’s a plus!
As for ② doesn’t fall off, frankly, it really doesn’t fall off.
Even when running, there’s no sign of it falling off.
Since you need to be aware of your surroundings, it’s great for running and exercise when you want something lightweight and secure.
So, who should consider buying these earbuds? Those who aren’t too picky about sound quality and like to listen to YouTube or podcasts while doing chores or running (i.e., people who want to wear them for long periods and value lightness).
So, that’s it for this introduction of the “TALIX” brand ear-cuff style open-ear wireless earbuds.
Thank you for reading all the way to the end!
